About

For starters, my name isn't really Leigh, and that picture of me is about three years old.

Now, I don't care if you know or figure out my real name. But I don't want someone Googling my name for professional reasons to get distracted by links to these ramblings. So, at least for now, I go by Leigh. You can also refer to me using the honorific title of your choice. Your Ladyship sounds nice.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2014. Some days I own it; other days I think that the doctors just haven't figured out what's really wrong with me yet. Regardless of what anyone thinks my chronic illness should be called, it sucks balls.

I'm married to a fellow Spoonie; he has psoriatic arthritis (PsA). For the record, neither of us particularly enjoy being called Spoonies, but we recognize that the term is useful for a couple of reasons. First, it helps the curious-but-healthy people in our lives understand why we are the way we are and why we do (or don't do) the things we do (or don't do). And second, the term helps us connect with other people who "get it."

Together, we live in Illinois with our dog and our cat. My husband is not able to work, but he cooks and cleans and cares for me like a boss. I hold down a full-time job as marketing writer in the tech industry. It pays most of the bills, gives me an outlet to do something I love, and provides health insurance for both of us. I hope to keep my job for a long, long time.

Like most bloggers, I do try to make a little passive income from my site. So if you run into a few links or notice the ads in my sidebar, know that I'm just trying to pay some medical bills and keep the WiFi turned on.
